Uttar Pradesh cabinet approves Noida-Greater Noida metro expansion

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the extension of the Aqua metro line between Noida and Greater Noida in an effort to improve urban connectivity. Traffic between Knowledge Park 20 in Greater Noida and Sector 51 Noida would be less congested as a result.


The project will cost Rs 394 crore a piece from the federal and state governments. 60% of the cash would come from the Greater Noida Authority, while 40% will come from the Noida Authority, according to the state government.


In order to promote the region’s overall development, the Cabinet also approved a plan to incorporate 80 villages into the boundaries of the Kanpur Development Authority.

A further Rs 3,000 Crore was cleared for the expansion of other urban areas in the state, with 50% of the funds going towards land acquisition for nine development authorities and the Housing Development Council. The proposal to provide Rs 4164.16 Crore as seed capital to various development authorities was approved with Rs 1,285 Crore for the current fiscal year.

The government will establish a fund with Rs 8170 Crore with Rs 1,634 Crore to be budgeted annually. The proposal will be implemented under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme.
