The most sacred area in the house is the pooja room, where we worship our deities. To improve our spiritual practices and draw luck and prosperity into this space, it is crucial to establish a positive and auspicious environment. The pooja room is thought to be the core of peaceful energy in the home, drawing in good energies.
A few things must be considered in order to prepare your pooja room as per Vastu Shastra.
Positioning of the pooja room
According to Vastu Shastra, the pooja room should be positioned in the north-east because it is thought to be the location of Lord Shiva. Avoid installing the pooja room next to the bathroom or under the stairs, as these locations are unlucky for worship.
The doors and windows of the pooja room should only be opened in the north or east, among other things to keep in mind.
- Make sure the pooja room is not located on the first floor or higher.
- According to Vastu Shastra, a pyramid ceiling can infuse your pooja room with good energy.
- The Pooja room ought to be positioned in the northeast, east, or north of the home.
Idol placement
In order to ensure enough ventilation around the idol, it should be placed a few inches away from the wall and at least 6 inches above the ground. Avoid placing your idol against the wall with little space between it and the wall because this can let bad energy into your home.
- Idols shouldn’t be placed in front of the door or facing each other because doing so can let evil spirits enter the home. There should be no breaking of the idols, paintings, or other pooja items.
- According to Vastu, placing an Agni Kund, a candle, or other lightning-related items in the north-east is auspicious.
Colour palette
For the pooja room, it is best to stay with light colours; for example, you might choose white, light blue, or bright yellow. Positive sentiments and a tranquil atmosphere are created by using light colours. The pooja room should appear bright and be constantly lit, according to Vastu.
The greatest source of light is natural light, but if there isn’t a window close by, you can use artificial light to keep the pooja area well-lit.
The following items should always be present in the pooja area to draw good energies:
Keeping auspicious objects in the home, according to Vasu Shastra and Feng Shui, helps draw good energy into the space. What belongs in your pooja room is as follows:
- A bell should always be put on the left side, as the sound of the bell is said to distribute positive energy throughout the house.
- Light a few aromatherapy candles or incense sticks to draw positive energies into the home.
- A bell should always be placed on the left side.
- Keep the pooja room’s corner clear of any obstructions, as these may restrict the flow of wealth into the home.
Significance of lightning in the pooja room
In order for the pooja room to have a large amount of light entering it, it must have at least one window. The windows allow for adequate sunshine and the free flow of pleasant energy throughout the spaces. Positive vibes are said to enter the home through the sun’s direct rays.
