Delhi Government begins putting out land data online to avoid fraud

To curb fraudulent activities related to property transfer in Delhi, the Delhi Government begins to upload the property data related to evacuee properties, Gram Sabha, and acquired land on its portal.

Recently, two-sub divisional magistrates, and a deputy secretary was suspended when Lieutenant Governor took notice of the frequently happening frauds. Also, it was recommended to suspend an additional district magistrate in relation to alleged transfer of evacuee land in North Delhi.

In the same case of property transfer in Delhi, a sub-registrar and kanoon was suspended in South Delhi.

A senior revenue department officer said, “We are uploading data on evacuee properties, Gram Sabha land, and acquired land or under the process of acquisition, on our portal.” He further said that, “It will help sub-registrars to determine if the land being reregistered by them is already acquired or under the process of acquisition.”

The official also said, “We are trying to bring data of different land records on a portal that will help the officials concerned to check the status of land being registered. It will also prevent any chances of corruption and speed up the process of registry.”

The official also said that prior to registration, sub-registrar needs some No-Objection Certificates (NOC) including one from land acquisition collectors to determine whether the land being registered belong to someone or not.

The uploading of acquired data online, the sub-registrars will not need to wait for NOC as they will be able to check the land record on computer. This will fasten the registration process which currently takes a lot of time.

Revenue officer also said, “In case of land acquired or under the process for acquisition is not available on the portal and it is registered, the sub-registrar will not be responsible. The sub-divisional magistrates conduct the process of acquisition and upload the data.”

This is ensures zero-tolerance against any malicious activity related to property transfer in Delhi.
